The final way to correct a comma splice is by replacing
the comma between the two sentences and making them into two separate ones.
Further, the first letter of the first word needs to be rewritten in the upper
case.
For example:
Mighty Mouse has been
absent from movie screens for a number of years, Mickey Mouse is doing well in
Disney’s theme parks.
For example:
Mighty Mouse has been
absent from movie screens for number of
years. Mickey Mouse is doing well in
Disney’s theme parks.
Note that a complete sentence followed by the second, which is
preceded by a transition (see in chapter on writing), can become a comma splice
if a comma comes before the transition.
The problem can be fixed by replacing the comma with a semi colon or
break it up into two separate sentences.
