A comma splice occurs when two sentences (independent
clauses) are joined by a comma.
For instance: Mighty Mouse has been absent from
movie screens for a number of years, Mickey Mouse is doing well in Disney’s
theme parks.
Commas are not strong enough to bridge the
sentences. There are ways by which comma
splices can be corrected.
