Indefinite Pronouns


Indefinite pronouns convey reference to unspecified people or objects.  At first glance, indefinite pronouns appear to be plural in form although they are not.  (Indefinite pronouns are listed above.).
Everybody has to drive their car.
Everybody has to drive his or her car.
The he or she (his or her) construction is awkward, so rewrite the sentence with a plural subject and a plural personal pronoun.
A flight attendant takes his or her responsibility seriously during in-flight emergencies.
Flight attendants take their responsibilities seriously during in-flight emergencies.
